ITC Certificate in First Aid for Sport, Exercise and Fitness at RQF Level 3
The Fitness First Aid course is a great introduction to first aid in a sport and fitness environment. It is specifically designed to meet the needs of:
Sports Therapists,
Group Exercise Instructors and
Sports Coaches and Leaders
Personal Trainers
Martial Arts
Massage Therapists
This course gives sports first aiders , the essential knowledge, skills, confidence and decision making processes needed in the sectors above . This is a fun and practical first aid course set in a sports environment.
Timings are usually 0900hrs to 1800hrs, including breaks.
Course Content
Safe best practice and awareness of current regulations
Return to play decisions following on field assessment using SALTAPS
Recognition of concussion - use of Maddock's questions
Soft tissue injuries, strains and sprains - when to and when not to use ice
CPR Resuscitation procedures - single and multi-person scenarios
Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator
Choking
What to put in your first aid kit
How to make an action plan
Assessment
Tutor observation of practical competency.
To achieve a pass candidates are required to take a full and active part in practicing all of the procedures and protocols taught.
There are no written exam papers.
This qualification is part of the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), qualification number 608/0885/0. The qualification is supported by the sector skills council; Skills for Health and is externally regulated by Ofqual and Qualifications Wales.
